Busch Gardens has been working on this new show for three years. The show will be set in the "Katonga" (a place in Africa with a very vivid landscape) and is costing an estimated $5 million to $6 million to produce. The cast will consist of 18 members (including five principals and five acrobats from China) and the theater will seat 1,168 guests. This show is being touted as a Broadway-style show.
It will be an African themed show with geographically appropriate plants and animals. This show is said to show the coming together of an African community through stories told by four storytellers from African tradition. This show will include music, dance, fabulous costumes and sets, and some great effects including giant puppets.
The show is being choreographed by Abdel Salaam, whose Forces of Nature Dance Theatre Company led the historic procession for Nelson and Winnie Mandela on their visit to NY, and is scheduled to open in Spring of 2004 with four to seven shows every day and running approximately 37 minutes. This show is slated to be at BGT for the next five year.
