Cypress Gardens

Cypress Gardens Adventure Park has re-opened and is bigger and better than ever.  Now there are two separate areas for young and old to enjoy and tons of shows and animals.

The shows include the ever-popular water-ski show on Mango Bay.  Mango Bay is also home of the "Pirates of Cypress Cove" show.  This show is a laugh-a-minute parody of life on the high seas, featuring some of the zaniest sailors on water.  The Royal Palm Theater features spectacular figure skating shows daily which will change to reflect the seasons.  Night Magic is a 3-D laser and fireworks show that lights up the night sky over majestic Lake Eloise with beautifully orchestrated lasers and fireworks set to a music.

Cypress Gardens now also is home to over three dozen rides including four coasters and the world's tallest spinning rapids ride.  The rides in Paradise Pier are set along a boardwalk much like the old-style amusement parks.  Adventure Grove offers rides set among a the splendor of the park's natural beauty.

But don't start worrying!  Cypress Gardens still offers the spectacular gardens that made it famous.  Native plants and exotice species combine to create a stunning and unforgetful experience.

Pre-Opening Description:
Kent Buescher, the new owner of Cypress Gardens Adventure Park (nee Cypress Gardens) has revealed the plans for the park including the addition of  36 thrill rides.  The master plans have Cypress Gardens Adventure Park being like two parks in one.  After entering through the Main Gates there will be two separate pathways to take guests on two totally different adventures.

The western pathway will take guests through a craftsmen's village, such as the one's at Dollywood and Silver Dollar City, then on past the water-ski stadiums and finally leading into the beautiful botanical gardens that were a crowd pleaser for the past 67 years.

The eastern path will take guests past the new Star Haven amphitheater, which will have a maximum capacity of 12,000, and on into the area of the park that will be home to the 36 new rides.  Of the new rides there will be four roller coasters, two water rides and a drop tower that will simulate a 120-foot free fall.  Ultimately the final destination on this pathway will be a water park that is set to open in the Spring of 2005.

There has been yet another delay to the park opening.  The date is now set for sometime in November due to the damage caused by Hurricane Charley.  For a preview of the park click on the link below.

Description (Jan. 2004):
Cypress Gardens has been sold to Kent Buescher, the owner of Wild Adventures in Valdosta GA, and will reportedly be re-opening sometime this summer under the new name Cypress Gardens Adventure Park.  The new owner is fixing up the park and will be adding 36 new attractions and rides, including several coasters, over the next 18 months.  From recent reports they will definitely be adding one wood coaster, two steel coasters, a kid coaster, a tower-drop ride, and an 80-foot ferris wheel.

We will be bringing you more information on the new rides when it becomes available.

Old Description:
Cypress Gardens has long been one of Central Florida tourists favorite destinations. With the beauty and splendor of their original gardens and the serene lake cruises aboard an authentic paddle wheel boat, it is no wonder. Guests can also see action packed water ski shows, an ice show, or magic show. Walk through the butterfly conservatory with over 1,000 free flying butterflies or the aviary where guests can have lories and lorikeets welcome them by perching on their shoulder and see an assortment of pheasants, ducks and muntjac deer. Guests can watch tamarins, pygmy marmasets and wallabies as they play in their natural habitats. Several times a year Cypress Gardens has world class seasonal floral festivals and lighting festivals.
